Ledaig 2009
In 1795, John Sinclair, a local kelp merchant of Mull, built a port on the waterfront of Tobermory. Three years later, Sinclair established the Ledaig Distillery in his picturesque harbour, importing barley from the mainland for his peat-fired stills. Today, we enjoy this heavily peated, maritime malt, elevated by exotic rum casks from Guyana.
We often talk of rare spirit, here we talk about rare oak casks! The Uitvlugt Distillery produced a rich, ester-heavy style of rum, until it closed in 2000. Here, we have gracefully finessed the historical, smoke-ladened Ledaig spirit with the tropical cask influences lent from a lost legend of the Caribbean.
