Deanston
Formerly an 18th century cotton mill, the Deanston buildings were transformed into a distillery in 1965. Today, the distillery is one of the most environmentally aware producers, powering its site with its own spinning jenny in the River Teith. Blending tradition and innovation, Deanston use organic malt and unusually long fermentation, creating a waxy new-make spirit – ideal for long-term maturation in oak. After nearly two decades slowly maturing in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we selected a smaller, fresh 110-litre bourbon barrel from Koval Distillery, ensuring this celebrated spirit rapidly gained a bolder character – a fine example of artfully matured Scotch whisky.
