Highland Park

The Orkney Islands, in the far north of Scotland is home to the world famous Highland Park Distillery. For over a quarter of a century, this exemplary spirit has been matured in a traditional oak cask and then in a barrique that previously held Banyuls fortified red wine produced in southern France, close to the border with Spain. On the nose, the gentle smoky peat scents mingle with charred wood shavings and the sweetness of butterscotch and caramel; green apple adds a tender fruitiness. The palate delights in a delicious soft smoke, mild vanilla and faint orange with a pleasant charcoal finish. The rewards of maturation are showcased in this munificent dram.
